You may have already heard these - first two are very old, rhymes to remember the days of the week. The third is a spoof on the first poem.
Monday s child is fair of face
Tuesday s child is full of grace
Wednesday s child is full of woe
Thursday s child has far to go
Friday s child works hard for a living
Saturday s child is loving and giving
The child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny, blithe, good and gay
(gay being the word used for a happy person, at the time this rhyme would have been written)
Solomon Grundy
Born on a Monday
Christened on Tuesday
Married on Wednesday
Fell ill on Thursday
Was worse on Friday
Died on Saturday
Buried on Sunday
And that was the end of Solomon Grundy!
(Cheerful!!)
Monday s child is red and spotty
Tuesday s child won t use his potty
Wednesday s child won t go to bed
Thursday s child will not be fed
Friday s child breaks all his toys
Saturday s child makes an awful noise
And the child that s born on the Sabbath day
Is a pain in the neck like the rest OK!!!!!
