Name-It Contest!

Thanks for selecting me as the winner of the Name-It Contest, Jayho! I am happy to finally be able to post a new picture!

In honor of the author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, here is one of his inventions. Since Jefferson s name for the device is now used for a different machine with a different purpose, this lovely piece needs a new name , not a new caption. I ll probably pick a winner sometime tomorrow, or when I have a good selection of entries. Have fun!

Ah ! Here is the BOAT SPECIAL MICE !

In fact Jefferson created it thinking that a 2nd giant flood would soon occur at his time and as Noah s Arch had been destroyed he worried for mice and other little animals.

Obviously Jefferson wasn t as inspiring as I d hoped. As the only entrant, maryse peyé is the winner. It s a good entry; I just wish I d had more to choose from.

Jefferson s name for the object above was the polygraph, allowing him to easily make written copies. However, polygraphs today are used as lie detectors. Jefferson s most popular invention, though, was the swivel chair, still beloved in offices almost everywhere.
