Both are correct and both are used often in American English. There really is no difference here. |

As a Canadian I agree that both are possible and correct. They are both correct for the same reason we can say:
Sara`s favorite day is Sunday. OR Sunday is Sara`s favorite day.

What you want to emphasize in your questions is important;I mean,
Is Sarah �s favorite day Sunday? You emphasize Sarah �s favorite day,however,
Is Sunday Sarah �s favorite day? This is more like a checking question.You are quite sure that it is Sunday,though.
But the answer to the question �What �s Sarah �s favorite day? � is �It �s Sunday. � or as short answer � Sunday is �
