I īve seen: "How īs the weather?"
but It sounds better like this: "What īs the weather like?"
What do you think?

It may sound better to you, but I īm more used to "How īs the weather?" rather than "What īs the weather like?". That sounds more like a specific inquiry than a general conversation.

I agree with alien-boy...
We usually say how īs the weather in coversation like if someone were somewhere on holiday and you were talking on the phone, although both are correct and there īs no difference in meaning |

Actually, "What īs the weather like?" is actually more a direct question and you really ARE interested in the weather... and is mostly used like this:
"What īs the weather like in Parma today?"
"What īs the weather like for the weekend? We want to skiing...
"What īs the weather like where you live?" I am coming to see you this weekend and I don īt know what to pack...
Whereas "How īs the weather..." is a more conversational question.
"Hey, Martin... how īs the weather where you are?" - Great, it īs nice and warm...
"Pierre, how īs the weather in Montreal today?" - Not, good .. we are freezing our butt īs off here...

I am a native English speaker - and I ALWAYS ask, "What īs the weather like today?" This is very natural for Americans.

But I don īt see a problem with - What īs the weather like today?
They both sound good to me. |
