Her, hers or something else?
|
Hi all, I m not sure any more how to fill in this sentence? Maria couldn t find her passport and Sara couldn t
find____ too. Thanks in advance |

Well, it depends on the meaning of the sentence. If it means that Sara couldn t find her own passport, it is definitely "hers" but if it means that Sara couldn t find Maria s passport than it would be "it". But I suppose "hers" is the best option. Georgina |

Hi Darija, it s hers and I would put either rather than too . |

Thank you Georgina and Lynne! I made up that sentence for one of my ws ( possessive pronouns exercise) but today I wasn t sure about it after reading again. Yes, Lynne i should be either. I need to correct is and upload the ws again :) thanks for spotting the mistake! |

Also, there should be a comma before "either". Bruce |

I wasn t sure that I agreed with you on this one Bruce, so I researched it. Here s an interesting little blog on the comma before either:

Thanks, Douglas (necessary comma). Like the author of that article, I will continue to use the comma with "either". Bruce |
