A school event to encourage reading
 
Hi everyon!
we are planning an event in our school to encourage our pupils (age 12-13-14) to read English stories and we are thinking of conducting different workshops that inclue various skill based activities. I really need some suggestions.

Tell them, if it is possible, that the stories will be published on the site of the school.
 
Create a school "newspaper" in English with some crosswords, short stories, some articles about topics they want to deal with...
 
Several of our colleagues have done the 1st suggestion and I have tried the 2nd. Once the students are self-confident enough the results are surprising... for them ! And a very good encouragement !

Encourage older students to read fairy tales or other stories to the little ones. Help them prepare for it and grade the best ones as a reward.
