Thanks for being so helpful. Your answers show me the weak points of my idea. "To repeat what someone has said" is a good example. I meant it to be a definition of "to quote", but of course all your ideas are just as correct. Now I know I have to define "to quote" in a more precise way. For example by adding "from a book or other source".

The last word was meant to be "scholarship", I ll have to improve that definition, too. Thanks for letting me run it by you.

I guessed scholorship right away, but maybe this could help

"scholorship - an amount of money given to excellent or needy students to pay for their college education"

Hi, Elderberrywine (and all the other folks, obviously)!

I seem to have come here a bit late, but I couldn t help trying to find your words (I really enjoy these challenges you have been bringing us), and my ideas were:

1. An acquaintance

2. A rival

3. An allowance

4. To overstate something

5. To discriminate against

6. To bribe

7. Filthy

8. ??? (Here I had no idea)

9. Sincere

10. A scholarship

It seems that in some of them (e.g. - acquaintance) we al agree on the same word, but for others (such as "exaggerate" / "overstate", for instance) we have different suggestions...
I hope this may help, and I also do hope you continue challenging us like this!

Thank you for such a good fun,

Sandra

I would say 2 is "an opponent".  A rival is more someone that you have battled several times.

"Bursary" would also work for number 10.
I agree that "opponent" is a good answer for number 2.
