The word "team" in question tags
 
Hi..I need an answer to the following question please:
 
- The team won, didn �t "they/ it"?

"Team" is a collective noun and takes a singular pronoun. "It" is most acceptable in American English.

I think that in the US, we are more likely to say "didn �t they?"
 
I would say that either choice is correct.

Why not put it the other way around to check... 
The team won. The team is great! Or... The team are great...
Quite obvious...
Hence,
The team won, didn �t it?

I agree with Bruce. They is most common in the US.
 
 

edit: As Bruce says below, we would say "They are great." because we are focusing on the players as people, not the team as an entity or unit.
