1. Brussels sprout 2 an object 3 a favourite 4 to be disabled/handicapped 5 a pedestrian 6 an employee 7 ambition 8 the shin 9 quantity (in my opinion, as a sum or amount is made up of several quantities, and can only be used as a noun, while sum and amount can be used as verbs, as in: sum up, amount to) 9 sum (in my husband s opinion, as it refers to a final/definite number, whereas quantity or amount refer to any kind of number) - definitely a tricky one 10 a cage

Manukh, I hope your marital debates over my word riddles don t seriously harm your marriage! I side with your husband but definitely need to rephrase that definition. Thanks!

Don t worry, he is absolutely fine with that. He loves his mother-tongue and was very enthusiastic about helping me with my idiom series.

1) I first thought of Brussels sprout - but it could be pea. If you wanted to make certain of a Brussels sprout response, you could add, that Brits eat at Christmas 2) object 4) disabled/ have a disability. (Don t use handicapped - it has very negative connotations in the UK; not acceptable and can be offensive) 8. Could be calf as well as shin . 9. sum (I m with the husband !) I agree about the others. And well done with this game - where can we get a published version, please?

Thank you Bruce, I WAS thinking of ankle, not shin. And you are dead right abut sum being too close to the other two words. I replaced it . |
