She is healthier than me.

To use "She is healthier than I.. " you need to add "am"... She is healthier than I am.

If you are ever in doubt substitute...

She is healthier than "he"... < is this correct? No... so "I" wouldn t be either..

She is healthier than "him" < is this one correct?  Yes, so you would use the object "me"...

YOU CAN EITHER SAY SHE IS HEALTHIER THAN ME OR SHE IS HEALTHIER THAN I AM

She is healthier than I (am).  The pronoun "I" is correct as it is the subject of the active verb "am" which, although omitted, is understood. You would not write "she is healthier than me am." Would you?

Hi Eaglestar,
Because than is a preposition as well as a conjunction, either construction is technically possible. However healthier than I, where than is classed as a conjunction, sounds old-fashioned and formal: the fuller form healthier than I am is more acceptable. The form healthier than me, where than is classed as a preposition, is much more common nowadays and the norm in conversation and informal writing .

I hope it s clear enough!!
Hugs,
Nebal

Well I thought that healthier was comparative!
healthy, healthier, healthiest.
You can say "she is taller than me".
so why can t you say she is healthier than me?

You are spot on with your description & explanation there Nebal. To use I is very formal & old fashioned. You would not hear many native speakers using I , the majority use me both conversationally & in writing.

Cheers,
AB
