Hello, can you help me figure out grammatically the following sentence? i have tried to find information about it but no success. I think it is connect to (I WISH + WOULD) for criticism, but again, no reference found. Please help me. sentence If these idiots would just take the bus, I could be home now. Thanks in advance. |

Hi, This one is hard to answer, because the sentence isn �t really correct. It would be better to say, "If these idiots had just taken the bus, I could be home now". I �m guessing that the idiots in question are causing traffic problems that are delaying the speaker. So, if it is meant as the simple present for habitual activity, it does make sense. If these idiots would take the bus every day instead of driving, I could be home now. Bruce |
