I am not sure if these borders have a particular name. I would call them geometric as they are comprised of repeated shapes.

 I hope that helps!

Hi Rebecca

There are no fixed names for borders.

Firefox s suggestion is good as a generic name.

Cheers

How are these borders called in English ?

In French it is "FRISE", the equivalent of FRIEZE in English.

Roberta, Maryse is right according to google images. They are friezes.

But as I am not familiar with art concepts, I would just call them borders (agreeing with firefox that they dont have a particular name), at least outside the art classroom, for most of us.

If you need to be more specific, you can describe them.

Row one is a flower border.
Row 2 I don t know the name but it remnds me of a design on a Roman tunic.
Row 3 is a bell border.
Row 4 is a flower border.
Row 5 is a pinwheel border.
Row 6 looks like a daffodill or tulip border.
Row 7 is a alternating squares and dimonds border.
Row 8 is a diamond in a square border.
Row 9 loosl like flagsor pennants in squares.border
Row 10 looks like a Native American clothing pattern border.
