Materials for Beginners

How about a separate category for beginners? I teach adults with very low literacy levels, and find it really hard to find suitable resources. Elementary materials are way to hard for them, and many beginners literacy materials on the internet are aimed at small children. It would be great to have a place where I could access new resources, and share some of the materials I have made for adults that are absolute beginners in English, have not had much contact with roman script and/or have had very little education in their home countries.

I would be interested to know how many other teachers out there are experiencing similar issues - I have to make most of my own resources and it would be great if I could access some suitable printable material!

I teach adults, too. It is difficult to find materials for adult learners. I adapt the materials we can find for free on the British Council website, Learn English Teens.

I would also like guidelines for the different levels. One person s "elementary" is someone else s "intermediate."

Thanks for responding. I was actually referring to this site with all of the exercises. I am more familiar with CASAS than I want to be, but the other sites look interesting. I m actually changing the level of my class in the spring semester. I m currently teaching what my school calls "High Beginning" and "Low Intermediate" (CASAS test levels 81x/82x and 83/84). In the spring, I m teaching "High Intermediate" and "Advanced" (CASAS 185/186 and 187/188).
