Hi dear friends. Can you help me with this sentence please?
Outdoor trash burning or burning trash and forest fires have contributed to air pollution.
Which is correct trash burning or burning trash or are they both wrong? Thank you in advance.

"Burning trash" sounds better than "trash burning," but it s not parallel with "forest fires": "burning trash" is something you do (people burning trash), whereas "forest fires" is just a noun. You might rephrase it: Fires--from burning of trash or forest fires--have contributed to air pollution. Hmmm. It s a tough one to make parallel if you don t want a long explanation of manmade and natural fires. |

Outdoor trash burning is not wrong. It describes how we disposed of paper trash years ago before it was outlawed. (US). |
