							| Hello, I need help as I m at a loss. Which is correct "The local dramatic society is doing Hamlet next month . OR The local dramatic society is making Hamlet next month. | 1 Feb 2017

							| I agree with Cartuxa. I would use "playing" or "performing". Do and make do not sound right in this context. However, like Cartuxa, I am not a native speaker.  | 1 Feb 2017

							| You can say doing but not making a play.   I am native.     | 1 Feb 2017

							| Playing is often used like this Hamlet is playing at the Odeon.. and Mike Smith is playing Hamlet - which means Mike Smith is playing the part of Hamlet - but not as in your example. You can say doing a play as dawnmain says, but it s a bit colloquial. I would say, The dramatic society is/are performing Hamlet. | 1 Feb 2017

							| I think "doing" is fine. You could also use "putting on (a performance of ) Hamlet" in your sentence.    I am native (UK English).  | 1 Feb 2017

							| Lynne (cunliffe) and FrauSue are correct.   Usually "make" involves a product/physical result of some sort.   Bruce  | 1 Feb 2017

							| I d go with "presenting" or "playing".  "Doing" is okay, but sounds quite informal.    In my head, "playing" sounds like we should be talking about a single role though. | 2 Feb 2017

							| Douglas, to my ear, "doing" sounds only a little informal. I go to a lot of plays, and I often use "doing" when telling someone what is coming up.   Bruce  | 2 Feb 2017

							| I can accept that Bruce, a little (versus quite) informal is probably closer to the reality. | 2 Feb 2017
