Past continuous or past simple

Dear colleagues,

are both these sentences correct?

WHAT WAS SHE WEARING YESTERDAY MORNING / YESTERDAY / ON MONDAY?

WHAT DID SHE WEAR YESTERDAY MORNING / YESTERDAY / ON MONDAY?

According to this link, they should be both OK:

https://forum.english.best/t/what-were-you-wearing-yesterday-vs-what-did-you-wear-yesterday/72058

Is there any difference in meaning?

Thank you for your help :)

I would stick to the past simple here. What did you wear yesterday? If you said to someone, What were you wearing yesterday? and there was no follow-up, as in: What were you wearing yesterday when the skies opened? it would mean you were wearing something really unusual.
OMG, what were you wearing yesterday?!!!!

I agree with Lynne that the past continuous would be used when there is reference to another activity/event that happened while she was wearing that. Otherwise, the simple past is what you need. In the proper context, though, both are correct, as your source says.
