A flibbertigibbert, sometimes written as Flybetigibbert is an Old English word, with a bit of French and German in there somewhere (don t ask me where, though.) It is a person who is terrified of flying. They know they have to get on the plane, maybe they are going on a wild hen do to Fuengirola, but boy, are they scared! They are reduced to shaking, gibbering, weeping and wailing. A glass or 2 of Prosecco sometimes sorts them out. Flybe = nice airline, gibber = speak rapidly and unintelligibly, through shock or fear. ti = maybe that s the French or German bit? |
