Hello, friends! I need your help, please ! The EX is : Correct the mistake in each sentence. 1. There are many car accidents here in winter because there are too much snow on the roads. One mistake is ARE because snow is uncountable noun. Im wondering about MANY ! Can I use MANY in positive sentence without too ??? What do you think? How many mistakes are there in this sentence? |

I think that the right sentence is: There are a lot of car accidents here in winter because theres too much snow on the roads. Much and many are usually used with negatives and questions. Bye |

"Many" is fine, although a little more formal than "a lot of". Bruce |

Thank you for your answers. I asked, because the students learn " too much" and "too many". And we can use "too many" instead "many". Is the meaning the same with "too many"?

No, "too many" means "more than there should be" or "more than is necessary". "Many" means "a large number". There are many flowers in my garden. It is beautiful. There are too many flowers in my garden. They cant get enough nutrients from the soil, so they are dying. Yes, there are too many accidents in the winter, but even one is too many, but is definitely not many. Bruce |
