There are 3 correct answers possible, depending on the context of the sentence. Only option C is wrong. Snow is uncountable thus you don�t say "A snow....." |

As snow covered the ground like a white carpet, even "some" does not really work as only a lot of snow can do that.. A and D seem more plausible. Together with an adjective, C could also work. Example, A deep/dense/ ... (layer of ) snow covered ..... . It�s interesting!:) |

If it was an opening to a story, it would be: Snow covered... No article.
