it sounds better playing and talking.
we spent the night playing and talking. the night was spent playing and talking.
I will try to find the grammar name of this and post later. |

No, this isn�t a progressive tense. "Playing" and "talking" here are being used as participles telling how the evening was spent, so I think that makes them adverbs. Bruce |

The evening was spent playing and talking. The verb �spend� is always followed by a gerund. |
