I am really puzzled.Which is the correct alternative in the following sentence:
Look out ! You are going to fall or look out ! you might fall.
Please explain your answer.thanks heaps.

Hi, We can use going to for predictions based on evidence. The look out shows us that the speaker sees a dangerous situation. Therefore going to is the best choice. Might indicates possibility which is not appropriate in this situation since the speaker is sure and not guessing about the situation. Hope that helps, Esther |

I disagree with the second part of Esther�s answer. I agree with everything except that "might" is not appropriate here. If the situation is dangerous, but falling isn�t certain, then "Look out! You might fall." is definitely appropriate. Bruce |
