SPELLING BEE RESOURCES

Hi everyone, hope you are doing well.

We are organizing an english day project at my school, and it includes a spelling bee competition. Since we are still doing all the teaching online, I would really love to get your help in regards of resources for children to practice. They are primary students and i find somewhat difficult to find online resources that can help them practice the alphabet and the costumized spelling list.

If you have any ideas or websites that you think could help, it would be extremely appreciated. Thanks a lot in advanced.

 Regards!

Im not really sure if I can be of any help but, still, Ill post some links which, in theory, may be helpful when youre teaching kids. Perhaps, youll come across some useful materials for your project if you study the sites assosicated with them in detail.
To be honest, I havent clicked onto any of them yet, so I dont know what content they can transfer you to. Here are the links Ive copied from a .pdf file I have access to:

Chants: This is a fun way for pupils to learn new vocabulary and proper syntax. http://www.esl4kids.net/chants.html

Internet project: this is a great link to an online project for kids. They learn how to make an online village or a code of Arms. http://www.yourchildlearns.com/village.htm

Flash cards: Print your own ready-made flash cards. http://www.1-language.com/eslflashcards/

Games and activities for children: There are lots of activities to add to your lesson plan or use as warm ups. You can also adapt some of them for teenagers or adults. http://www.eslkidstuff.com/Classroomgamesframe.htm

E pals (Pen pals) http://www.zen.org/~brendan/kids-pen.html

Songs: introduction and warm up songs. Useful when starting a class to get pupils to focus. http://dragon.sleepdeprived.ca/songbook/songbook_index.htm

Flashcard game: http://www.eslkidstuff.com/flashcardgamesframe.htm

Writing: I really like this new way of teaching kids to begin writing. Try it! http://handwritingforkids.com/handwrite/

Songs and lyrics: http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/games/songs/childrens/index.htm

Trivia: This is a great website on geography, history, movies and much more. http://www.funtrivia.com/

Coloring pages: Lots of coloring pages when working on colors, shapes, animals and more. http://www.afunk.com/

Stories, games and more: BBC´s website Cbeebies http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/

Arts: Art projects for children http://www.artistshelpingchildren.org/

Storytelling activities: Stories telling ideas for children. http://www.storyarts.org/lessonplans/lessonideas/index.html#songs

P.S. Im sorry if any of the links above wont work.

Hello, Luis!
Maybe you can use https://www.gamestolearnenglish.com/ ? Their Spelling Bee and Hang Man games seem to be useful for learning the correct spelling of the vocabulary of the following categories:

If you log in as a teacher, you can create a homework task and share the link with your students. It means you can give just one category at a time. When students open the link, they will be prompted to enter a name. When they press Finish, the score will be recorded and you will be able to view it on the site. If you want, you can also create and upload your own sets of vocabulary.

Another website that comes to my mind is https://quizlet.com Choose or create a set of words you want your students to learn, e.g.,
As the aim is learning to spell, choose the option Spell. Then Type what you hear. If you type incorrectly, the correct spelling will be provided calling out letter by letter. You even can pretend not knowing this or that word by typing just any letter and clicking "Enter" and the program will keep teaching you by spelling the word for you again and again. Here you can try how it works: https://quizlet.com/285164904/spell

I have some worksheets from anglomaniacy.pl that might suit.
For the worksheet relating to clothes; there are pictures of items of clothing, and a list of scrambled letters next to each picture.
E.g. tewaesr (sweater), cossk (socks) and rksit (skirt). There are empty bubbles for students to write the correct name for each item, using the scrambled letters to help.
I couldnt find them on https://anglomaniacy.pl/ when I looked just now but there are some similar printables etc. that might be useful.

Another activity that might be fun is the "Spelling battleship game".
I tried this and I am not sure it went that well but I might not have provided clear enough instructions. Im also not sure how many of my students were familiar with the Battleships pen and paper game. A video like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aAQaGxCpCg might help?
