Present Perfect vs Present Continuous
|
Hello to all My student asked me to explain the difference between these two sentences that she had found in some grammar book online: Ive been here since morning. (Present Perfect)
Im sitting here since morning. (Present Continuous) I wasnt quite sure. Could somebody help to explain the difference between these two grammar structures, please? Thank you |

Hi,
Im not sure the second one is correct. Maybe, Im sitting here this morning, which, I guess, would be ok for some context. What would other forum participants say? |

Agree with niksailor. I dont think we can use the present continuous with since. Also, to make the first sentence sound more natural, it should be Ive been sitting here since this morning. |

I agree. The basic meaning of the present continuous is "now". I am sitting here (now), writing my response. Bruce |
