Solution to Teacher Work Overload: NO SLEEP!
|
Teachers around the country have complained that there arent enough hours in the day to do all the things they need to do: lesson planning, marking homework, entering grades, answering emails, etc. One teacher in Illinois has a solution: I dont sleep, he says. If I dont sleep, that gives me enough time to do all the things I need to do. Its great! No sleep you ask. Is that healthy? Doctors recommend 7 - 9 hours of sleep per night. Teacher Willa Johnson counters this. I find that stress is worse than no sleep. If I dont finish my work, I feel stressed. By not sleeping, I feel more relaxed because all my work gets done. Its really the best option for me. We interviewed dozens of teachers in different school districts and we found many are in agreement. Sleep is for wimps. chuckles a teacher in Oregon. We just have to learn to live without it. So, put on some loud music and grab your favorite energy drink. Get ready for a night of finishing up all your work so that you can breathe easy the next day. Oh, and Happy April Fools Day!

You had me going there, Esther. As it goes, sleep is not the problem for me. I find it difficult to get any exercise. I am doing 10 hours of contact hours on Mondays just lately. Because of that, I normally sleep like a baby. |

I am retired and sleep like a baby normally, but If I dont, I dont worry and catch up on sleep later. April 1st is my wedding anniversary by the way. It was the most unromantic do! We had the first slot at the Registry Office - 9am in Wolverhampton. When we got there, we were locked out as theyd forgotten to unlock the doors. Then, after the vows, the registrar said, in a broad Black Country accent, Youre married now, OK? But marrying that guy is the best thing I ever did. |
