Hi friends:
I d like to ask you how you usually work with new vocabulary you give your Ss. apart from giving them worksheets. Sometimes the use of an English - English dictionary might be very useful as it allows Ss to understand the meaning of the word they re looking up according to a specific context, but it seems to be kind of boring and tiring for my teenage students...so, do you have any other ideas I could use to make them memorise or practice new words?....By the way, my Ss are preparing for the FCE...
Thanks a lot.
Regards,

I m a big fan of matching. I often give students slips of paper with the new words and other slips with corresponding pictures, definitions, or examples, then have them try to match the slips before I explain the new words. This way I see what they already know/can figure out, and they re (hopefully) interested in finding out if they were correct. You can also do this in groups and make it a competition. |
