Can anyone help me?

Can anyone tell me the term "dime", does it refer to British money or American money? And what does it mean?
Thanks a lot in advance

American money and despite travelling to the states many times I can never remember how much it s worth :-) I think one dime is 10 cents; one nickel is 5 cents and a quarter is 25 cents.

I hope I got this right, if not, Americans (or whoever knows dollars better then me) please correct me!

Hi:

A dime is American. It is 10 cents.  A penny is 1 cent.  A nickle is 5 cents.  A quarter is 25 cents.  In Canada a looney is $1 or a buck  and a fin is $5.

Hope this helps.
