Here is a nice object you should have in your classroom: the Magic 8 Ball. It is not too expensive (see the price on Amazon) and you can use it in different ways.
Last year, I used it to teach the future with WILL. I asked my students to make 2 questions, the first one about themselves, the second about one of their classmates. As I started the game (with a question about myself and a question about the whole class) and read the answers given by the Magic Ball, my students got really intrigued!! They started preparing questions and then each of them came to the desk to read their questions and the answers given by the Magic Ball. We had a great time!
Here are the answers the Magic 8 Ball can give:
- Yes
- As I see it, yes.
- Reply hazy. Try again.
- It is certain.
- You may rely on it.
- Ask again later.
- Yes, definitely.
- My sources says NO.
- Cannot predict now.
- Without a doubt.
- Very doubtful.
- Signs point to YES.
- Dont count on it.
- It is decidedly so.
- Concentrate and ask again.
- Better not tell you now
- Outlook good.
But you can also use the Magic 8 Ball on a daily basis.
Example 1:
Pupil: Can I go to the toilet, please?
Teacher: Well, lets see what the Magic Ball says! Concentrate and ask again!
Example 2:
Pupil: Will we have a test next week?
Teacher: Well, lets see what the Magic Ball says? Without a doubt
