If it is about the position maybe it should be " blue lycra cycling shorts" if we consider "cycled" in the purpose category it should be places at the end. sorry for my previous answer |

What about punctuation? I don �t think there should be "," between those adjectives... but I might be wrong.

No commas are necessary with these adjectives. It is not the same as listing nouns where commas are needed:
I bought apples, bananas, grapes and oranges.
She wore a shimmering blue-green satin frock. |

With regard to commas, here �s the relevant section from Swann �s �Practical English Usage �:
commas
Before nouns, we generally use commas between adjectives (especially in longer sequences) which give similar kinds of information, for example in physical descriptions.
a lovely, long, cool, refreshing drink
an expensive, ill-planned, wasteful project
But commas can be dropped before short common adjectives.
a tall (.) dark (.) handsome cowboy
So, with regard to the examples quoted...
She wore a shimmering, blue-green, satin frock - would be a correct use of commas.
He usually wears blue, lycra, cycling shorts - would also be correct.
However, it also means that the following could be correct too:
He usually wears blue lycra cycling shorts
She wore a shimmering, blue-green satin frock.
I have left the comma after shimmering as (in my opinion) it is not a short adjective.
In speech converted to writing a comma is indicative of a slight pause (but not as lengthy as a full stop/period). If you try saying a descriptive adjectival sequence you will find where the commas belong in a natural speech pattern/rhythm.

Fair enough Alien Boy. I didn �t think about the length of the adjectives.
I think of �shimmering blue-green � going together as the colour/look in this sentence so probably wouldn �t have added a comma anyway, cumbersome as the description is.  |
