study or do homework??
|
Hi friends, I need your help.
I have always used:
"I do my (English) homework at 5 p.m."
..but I need to know if it s correct to say...
"I study English at 5 p.m." (as a routine)
Thanks in advance. |

Hi damielle,
Yes both sentences are used to express different daily repeated activities.

I think when you say I do my English homework at 5pm, it means that you do it by yourself.
But if you say"study English", this means that you are learning English(either by the help of a tutor, or self education"via internet or a book... |

Thanks in advance. | | "I do my homework at 5 p.m." indicates habitualness of all subjects, unless indicated, and a necessity. "I study English at 5p.m." can signify habitualness but not necessarily out of necessity but out of want/desire/love of learning...
That s my take on it. |

In your sentences, both are correct in using daily repeated activities. But, I would think that homework is schoolwork assigned to be done outside the classroom and study could mean, as miykoko stated by the help of a tutor or self education. |
