Battleship-- Asking Questions
This classic battleship game is designed to get students to ask complete questions in English. Each partner is given two worksheets. On the "My Ships" sheet students begin by making 5 boats (1 A boat, 1 B boat, 1 C boat, and 2 D boats) anywhere they choose across the grid (one letter in each grid space). The "My Ships" sheet is a secret from the other partner. Students take turns asking "yes/no" questions to find their "enemy´s" ships. For example one student will ask the other, "Would you like to go to Spain?" The other student will look at their "My Ships" sheet to see if there is a ship on that space. If "yes," their opponent will draw a circle on that space. If the enemy says "no," their opponent will draw an X on that spot. The student who finds all of their partner´s ships first wins. I think it works well to staple the Enemy´s Ships on top of My Ships when distributing the worksheets. That way, "My Ships" are hidden better.
