Murder in Cathedral Square - Cluedo
A roleplay activity for 7 students. If you have more or less then you can double up or eliminate Mrs Peacock or Mrs Jones.
Students take the role of one of 7 suspects for the crime of killing Mr Black in Cathedral Square. All have a motive. The objective is to find the murderer the fastest.
Stage 1 - Give students a role card and a sheet with the suspect table. They complete their details for their character. Then they stand up and mingle with other students asking was, were questions to complete the table.
Stage 2 - Once students have completed the table up to but not including the motive, students come together and ask what each characters motive was. "Why were you angry with Mr Black". Students complete this part of the table and guess who the murderer is. The murderer is Mr Smith. But the student who plays this character doesnīt know this yet (this way the student can fully take part).
Stage 3 - There are some extra information cards. Some have pertinent info and some are irrelevant. One by one read the extra info cards. In between extra info cards, students can change who they think is the murderer by writing the new suspect on a piece of paper and putting it face down in front of them. No other student will know what they wrote.
Once all the extra info cards have been read and it is clear that Mr Smith killed Mr Black (he was paid to do so by Mr Anderson), look at the cards that the students have lain face down. The student who guessed correctly the earliest (before more extra info cards and didnīt change their mind after they guessed correctly) - is the top cop!
