WORD BRAIN-TEASER
At the start of your lesson let your students in pairs or small groups fulfil their thinking potential and generate words, beginning with each letter of the alphabet. All the letters are placed on two stairways where "mind" and "cleverness" must go down to meet at the bottom. The difficulty of the activity is that each word must contain just the exact number of letters which is equal to the number of a step, and each step is associated with its letter as seen in the task.
After this riddle I suggest my solution with all the steps taken by words with the required number of letters. Have a try and solve the riddle yourself! I am curious as to what linguistic ideas you can come up with)
Even advanced-level students are expected to be at a loss :)
