Present/Past (Simple & Continuous) Speaking Game
This activity should occur after introduction and practice of the present simple/continuous and past simple/continuous.
This board game is for small groups of 2-5. Teacher provides one die for each board, and can provide marker pieces (or students can use coins, erasers, etc.) Students roll the die and advance accordingly along the board. Each space on the board asks students to perform a speaking task using the simple and continuous tenses.
Students must pay close attention to the context of each speaking task to determine whether present simple, present continuous, past simple, or past continuous is needed. Typical play can last 15-25 minutes depending on the group.
