Welcome to
ESL Printables,
the website where English Language teachers exchange resources:
worksheets, lesson plans, activities, etc.
Our collection is growing every day with the help of many teachers. If
you want to download you have to send your own contributions.
IŽve put advanced because there are some difficult things in here but in general less able students should be able to give it a go and it usually sparks a lively debate.
Prior to the class youŽll just need to print and cut out the boxes. There should be 6 x numbered word boxes and 6 x sport boxes.
1. Split the class into 6 groups
2. Give each group a sport
3. Create 6 "stations" and at each station pin up one of the sets of words.
4. Groups should send out a student to find the correct word for each space. You can choose to do this however you like, I preferred to do it like a reconnaissance mission with the 1 student having to remember the words and report back to the group. Then the group would have to talk and decide which word fits best.
5. After about 10 minutes (or however long you decide you need in your time frame) call everyone back to their groups.
6. Groups are called to the front to read out their sentences.
7. For every sentence they got right I might give them a mini chocolate or something - or "eliminate" members of their group for incorrect answers depending on the relationship with the students.
8. The team having the more correct answers being crowned overall winner with bragging rights for the week. :D
