Participle Clauses
For upper-intermediate/B2+ students.
The students are given the sheet with a list of sentences containing participle clauses, for example:
Being imported, this beer is more expensive.
And they must write (or say) what the sentence means:
This beer is more expensive because it is imported.
If you do the it orally You can print the answers on the back so the students can go home and practise/test themselves.
You could also delete the participle clauses and just give the students the other sentence, telling them to make it into a participle clause themselves. (This is harder).
This is good practice for FCE and especially CAE exams where in "Key word transformations" students may need to use this type of grammar.
There are no grammar notes included in this worksheet and the teacher must have gone through the form and meaning before doing this.
