Giving Advice Boardgame
I used this board game for students to practice giving advice in relation to health. I started the lesson with common English phrases such as, he´s got the runs, my feet are killing me, I´ve got a splitting headache. The students had to match the words to a definition. The students then looked at problem pages and I elicited from the students how advice is given. As a group the students came up with words such as should, if I were you I would, you must, you need and then I gave the students words they did not already know; you ought to. The students then got to practice giving advice by making their way around the board, for less able students I provided a list of possible suggestions, for example, go to bed, visit your doctor.
