Problems - Giving Advice
A flashcard sheet that students work together to find the answers for. One student says (for example): "I have a problem. My older brother bullies me. Can you give me some advice?" and the reply could be "You must tell your parents." I pre-taught problems and solutions and the difference between "If I were you, I would..." and "You should..." and "You must..." before handing this out. After giving suggestions on solutions for all these problems, students fill in the bottom 4 boxes with new problems, for example: "My hair is too long" etc. Very successful with my high school esl students in Korea.
