Making Suggestions for Health Reasons
The following people are suffering from poor health. Read their symptoms and then, in groups of 3-4 people, choose one of the characters. Suggest 3 changes your character should make and 3 changes he/she must make to improve his/her health.
1. Write the words Should and Must, *elicit the difference
(Must is imperative, Should is a suggestion and less forceful)
*elicit examples of each
2. When reading, suggest that Ss underline important information for each sick character.
3. Ss choose one of the characters and offers changes they "Should" make and changes the "Must" make. (Must is imperative, Should is a suggestion)
4. In a paragraph, Ss explain the reason Why their recommendations are necessary.

5. If time allows, ask Ss to present their ideas to the class.
