Making suggestions speaking strips
These may be used during a speaking exercise while speaking to their partner, to make sure that the students are using appropriate and varied forms of making suggestions and answering in a positive or negative way.
Use: first snip the sentences so that each student has his or her own 15 prompts. Then I suggest open-class brainstorming of ways of answering a specific suggestion, so that the students reactivate their knowledge. After that, a suggestion can be issued to the class in general, asking them to use the card responses with the teacher, and then make a counter suggestion to the initial offer: this would show them how the activity works. Lastly, ask them to work in pairs and practise a conversation using the prompts to make and answer suggestions.
Because printing is often very limited for teachers, I have compressed the cards into as little space as possible. They may be printed in black and white too without any inconvenience.
