This full-class mingle exercise is a fun conversation activity for after explaining the Thanksgiving Holiday. Elicit the following words: cranberry sauce stuffing gravy pumpkin pie turkey mashed potatoes green beans Hand out the cards, one per student (there are 18 here; you can print doubles for extra students). Make sure everyone understands his/her card. Write on the board: A: Happy Thanksgiving! B: Happy Thanksgiving! A: How is your day? B: (reads card) What should we do? A: (Offers advice on what to do) Invite the students come into the center of the room. Demonstrate with one student: (example – teacher as A) A: Happy Thanksgiving! B: Happy Thanksgiving! A: How is your day? B: I ate too much and I feel like throwing up! What should we do? A: You should sit on the couch and relax. You´ll feel better soon. Then invite the student to be A, and you be B. When finished, give your card to the student, and take the student´s card. Then turn to another student with your new card. Explain that everyone should try to talk to every student. Make sure everyone understands, and have a fun Thanksgiving lesson!
