Apologising
This worksheet can be used in various ways: as a dictation, to teach how to write a formal apology, to discuss indigenous cultures and traditions. I have used it mainly to teach how to write a letter of apology. First I hand out some pictures of Aborigines and ask the class what they know about them, what they think the link could be between apologising and the Aboriginal people etc. At this point give them some more background information about the "stolen generation" (info on sheet). Read through the text and answer the true or false questions. Then ask them to write an apology from the Australian government to the Aborigines. I have included part of the official apology to read through at the end.
