Jump Rope Rhymes
I used this worksheet to teach students traditional playground games. It is useful for teaching new vocabulary, reviewing numbers, applying numbers to describe birthdays, and working on pronunciation.
It is also a helpful introduction to teaching poetry and/or the concept of rhyming. After reading through the chants and picking a few to play jump rope games with (using up some of their excess energy!), I explained what a rhyme is and gave students examples of rhyming words (head, bed, dead...). Then I had them circle all of the rhyming words on the page.
As an extra activity, you could have students make their own jump rope rhymes and describe the corresponding actions.
