The More We Get Together - "More or Less" Worksheet and Lyrics
I had some fun with the song, "The More We Get Together" by asking the kids if they liked being in class...Thus it became "The Less We Get Together"...And to be honest, with some of them I couldn´t agree more...I have a sense of humor and it is good seeing them develop theirs...There also is a game I made up of handing out cards of paper glasses of milk and paper cookies. I give each student one. Then I set up two trash baskets as "kitchens". On one I put the word "Milk", this one has glasses of milk cards in it. On the other, I put the word "Cookies" this one has cookies cards in it. The object of the game is for the students to try and grab more milk and cookies or and throw away milk and cookies depending on what I call out. For example “Less milk”, thus the students need to try and throw away a milk card in the milk kitchen. The challenge is that I blindfold two students and place them at the kitchens to guard them. Then I call out "Less" or "More" and the students have to try and grab more or throw away their cards without getting tagged..If they get tagged they are out of the game...At least, that is how it is supposed to work...Unfortunately, the students go crazy sometimes and it is hard to get them to compete with each other instead of just competing with me. So I end up blindfolding myself...and the kids refuse to quit when I tag them...Then the game is just stupid.
Another game that works well here is the "human knot" game in pairs of 2 to 3 if they are too small for the whole group.
