A lesson on gratitude
Students often comment on the fact that the verb "take" has several different meanings. While brainstorming idioms, phrases and phrasal verbs with the verb "take", I suggested "take for granted", and my students didnt know what it meant. I decided to prepare a whole lesson on taking things for granted, but focusing on the opposite option, which is being grateful. The tasks revise the use of gerunds after prepositions and certain verbs, relative pronouns and subject-verb inversion for emphasis. As a follow-up activity, I suggest a TED talk on the topic of gratefulness.
