Irregular verbs dominoes (set 2 out of 5)
This is the second of a series of 5 different sets of dominoes that are aimed at learning/memorizing the irregular past forms of some verbs.
If you have ever played dominoes, the game is very simple:
1) Organize your students in groups of 3 or 4 (2 is rather dull, and 5 is one too many!)
2) Have the set of cards (one per group) printed (perforating so as to make it easier for the students to cut and laminating so as to ensure the durability of the game are optional) and cut.
3) Deal 6 cards to each student in the group, and leave the extra cards on a pile, face down.
4) The youngest student starts (you can also use your own method for choosing the one who starts) and places one of their cards on the table.
5) The next student to the right looks at the card and places either the past form of the present form for one of the verbs in the card (the card has two sides: one present form of a verb and one past form of the verb). If the student finds on his hand one of the cards that can be placed after said verb, they play it and it´s the next student on the right´s turn.
6) If the student doesn´t have a verb there are to options for what happens then:
- They may draw ONE of the cards on the pile and the turn goes to the next student on the right; or
- They may draw one or more cards from the pile until they can place one of their cards on either side of the sequence.
7) The winner is the student who has no cards left. After some 5 minutes or so, you may switch the sets of cards (providing you have printed the other sets of cards which I have also uploaded).
