The Future of Education The Future of Education

This is a lesson I did with 17/18 year olds about the future of education. It draws a bit of influence from what´s been going on in England these last few years with Michael Gove, though he is not mentioned here. The picture on page 4 is directly related to him. Gets them thinking about what will be important in the future, the comments teachers often get about how easy teaching must be (!!!!). Ends off with a role-play in small groups, which works really well if it´s a funny class. Encourage them to try to get a joke in. That always makes it easier and raises their confidence. You will need to go around keeping them on task and helping out, and dedicate the last 10 minutes to getting them to perform. Don´t let them volunteer. Pick on people, especially the quieter ones. They always really enjoy performing in the end, even if they think they won´t! I hope you find this useful.
