Mastermind! - Likes & Doesn´t Like Mastermind! - Likes & Doesn´t Like

1) After reviewing the grammar/ vocabulary, students choose one option from each column and write their secret sentence. example: Bob likes milk. 2) Students form pairs. Student A tries to guess Student 1´s secret sentence by saying a combination of the words in each column. example: Sally doesn´t like milk. 3) Student 1 tells how many parts of the sentence Student A guessed correctly. Student 1 does not specify which words are correct and incorrect. example: Student A guessed 1 part of the sentence correctly (milk), so Student 1 says "1" 4) Student A writes down the sentence he guessed in the space provided, along with the number of parts of the sentence he guessed correctly. He can use this for future reference. 4) Student A guesses again, and Student 1 again tells him how many parts of the sentence he got correct and incorrect. This continues until Student A figures out what Student 1´s sentence is. Notes: This game can be difficult to explain to students. I suggest demonstrating it by dividing the class in half. Write a secret sentence on the back of a sheet of paper and show it to one half of the class. Have the other half guess, then tell them how many parts of the sentence the got right. Continue until they guess the sentence, then switch, letting the other half practice. The students will almost instantly understand the game.
