Drawing dictation
DRAWING DICTATION
This is always a big hit with my students. You simply ask for a volunteer (they normally go crazy over this, as everybody wants to be the one picked up), then you give to this child the paper with the picture on, while you distribute blank sheets of paper to the rest of the class.
The child with the picture sits at the front and starts to describe what he/she can see in the illustration, paying special attention to prepositions of place such as “next to”, “in front of”, “above”, etc. The rest draw on their sheets of paper following the instructions given. At the end, we compare the original and the other copies, and the most similar one is the winner.
This is a great activity, as, not only do children have fun, but they also practise listening and speaking in an amusing way.
I hope you enjoy it.
