Agree/Disagree
This is an activity that has worked extremely well with students of all ages. They are shown a photo and a controversial statement (an opinion), and they are asked to either agree or disagree. They are then given a platform for explaining why it is they hold this opinion. It sparks debate in the classroom, gives students another point of view, and, most important, does the one thing that is always a chore to make happen in the classroom--gets them speaking!
