2) According to the UN’s World Health Organization, Cuba’s health care system is an example for all countries of the world.
The Cuban health system is recognized worldwide for its excellence and its efficiency. Despite extremely limited resources and the dramatic impact caused by the economic sanctions imposed by the United States for more than half a century, Cuba has managed to guarantee access to care for all segments of the population and obtain results similar to those of the most developed nations.
3) All health care is state-owned in Cuba, each medical institution is supervised by the Ministry of Health. It created a unified health system. Cuba is the leader in life expectancy (the average is equal to 76 years).
Medical care is provided absolutely to all categories of the citizens, regardless of their financial situation. The government tries to provide its citizens with the necessary level of medical services, annually allocates large sums of money, not only for treatment, but also on a variety researching in the field of medicine (eg, vaccine production and development of new drugs).
4) Cuba is quite severely limited with financial resources, but the country´s health care system often solves those problems that cannot even handle American medicine. The priority for the Ministry of Health itself considers preventive measures. It means the medical system is built in such a way that prevents diseases before they become a serious stage, requiring complicated operations or other expensive treatments.
5) Every citizen has a family doctor - he is responsible for the primary health care of the patient, if necessary send to the hospital for more than a specialist, and also makes the necessary appointments.
6) In this country, created an unusual way to prevent heart attacks, held rare operations in intervention cataract, vaccines that are unique are made.
There are held prevention and control of such disease as AIDS. At the same time, Cuban researchers are working on a vaccine that could finally cure this terrible virus.
7) About Cuban doctors
The island has a lot of highly skilled professionals who are able to perform the operation of any complexity. Cuban doctors´ education takes 9 years: six years in medical school and three years of specialization. All the patients of Cuba´s healthcare system appreciate doctors not only for their high degree of literacy, but also for being attentive to every patient, regardless of the extent and complexity of the disease.
8) About hospitals in Cuba
There are 276 hospitals on the island, 163 clinics and 442 dental clinics. There are about 800,000 doctors all in all.
There are a lot of specialized clinics, most of which serves only the tourists and other foreign patients here they have all the necessary equipment of the latest technology.
Ordinary hospitals are equipped with old and often not working equipment, which does not allow make an accurate and correct diagnosis.
9) Medicine for tourists
Cuba is known for its healing, pleasant climate and SPA-procedures, causing thousands of tourists come here every year to heal.
Some reforms in the health care are focused on providing high quality medical care exactly to foreign citizens (thus the state attracts medical tourists).
All medical services are paid on the island, however, prices are slightly lower in comparison with the level provided by European countries.
